The Long Journey to a Botanica Breakfast

Botanica, in Red Hill, has been the go to place for Brisbane foodies since it opened. Its delicious range of salads provide a healthy and filling lunch or dinner. They also have a scrumptious range of gluten free cakes.

Now I wouldn’t classify myself as a foodie, but a close friend of mine is, and so we’ve been to Botanica a number of times. One visit we got caught in heavy rainfall and had to huddle under a nearby bus shelter so our salad boxes did not get destroyed. Some might think getting soaking wet for a salad isn’t worth it, but trust me, it is.

When I found out Botanica had a breakfast range, I just HAD to try it. Though actually being able to get the breakfast proved to be a little difficult. You see, they stop serving the breakfast at 9am and I live about a one-hour bus ride away. If I’d want to make it in time, before they finished serving breakfast, I would have to get up early.

After a few misses (not meeting up with friends early enough, university clashes, etc), last Friday I finally made it to Botanica in time to try their breakfast offerings… and well, it was good. It was everything I expected it to be! While not as tasty as the salads they offer, the breakfast still packed the punch needed to get you through the day.

There were a number of breakfast options to choose from. I ended up going with the overnight oats, chia seed pudding, fruit salad (with coconut yoghurt on top… yum!) and the baked fruit and muesli. I found the muesli and the fruit salad to be my favourite, though it was all delicious.

Would I go there again for the breakfasts? Definitely if I’m in the area! It was something I wanted to try and I am so glad I tried it. If you’re near Red Hill before 9am one morning and need something nice and filling for breakfast, pop in to Botanica for some great food!
